When a piece is commissioned, the time between the commission being placed, and the completion date, varies widely, and can range from a month or less, to 18 months or more, depending upon the complexity of the weaving, or the hand painting required. Commissions are welcome for altar cloths, frontals, lectern fronts and bible markers, banners, transparencies and ecclesiastical tapestries: paraments, rich in religious symbolism, for use in worship, and ceremonial occasions. She often makes stoles and tallits, as gifts, or for use on special occasions. She also creates commissioned jewelry pieces as well as non-church related items, scarves, stoles, wall hangings, tapestries. Sandra's hand painted silks enliven many of her stoles; she uses natural fibers in her weaving, and 100% manufactured silk yardage in all of her hand painted linings, as well as for her line of silk bags and scarves. |
